D-Central Technologies Marks 10 Months of Daily DCENT_OS and DCENT_Toolbox Development

Open-source Bitcoin mining firmware work expands across Antminer, Bitaxe and Canaan/Avalon platforms as D-Central publishes continued development in public

MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA, August 24, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- D-Central Technologies Inc. announced a development milestone for DCENT_OS, its GPL-3.0 open-source Bitcoin mining firmware project, and DCENT_Toolbox, its companion miner management, diagnostics, installation and recovery toolkit.

D-Central says the current development effort began approximately 10 months ago and has progressed every day since, including weekends. The company has also continued building in public, regularly synchronizing source code, documentation, engineering evidence and experimental hardware paths to its public repositories. The latest public mirror synchronization for both DCENT_OS and DCENT_Toolbox was published Aug. 15.

The project is increasingly moving from broad reverse-engineering work toward implementation, integration and hardware validation. D-Central says much of the foundational reverse engineering required for its Antminer and ESP32-based paths has been completed, while Canaan/Avalon remains under active reverse engineering and MicroBT WhatsMiner support remains a future target.

DCENT_OS reached its first public beta milestone in July with guarded experimental firmware artifacts for specific Antminer S9 Xilinx and Antminer S19j Pro Xilinx control-board configurations. D-Central continues to classify those images as experimental rather than production-ready and publishes hardware-specific evidence separately from artifact availability.

Development of the ESP32 branch used for Bitaxe class firmware has also expanded. The public source tree now includes experimental Lucky Miner LV06, LV07 and LV08 targets alongside multiple Hammer Miner configurations.

Canaan firmware is another current engineering focus. D-Central is concentrating development efforts on the Avalon Nano 3, Nano 3S and Avalon Q families, hardware that aligns with the company's long-standing interest in home Bitcoin mining, solo mining, heat reuse and smaller-scale mining infrastructure. The Canaan/Avalon firmware branch remains under development and does not yet carry a production-mining image ready yet.

The broader DCENT_OS roadmap also includes transparent controls for overclocking, undervolting and auto-tuning Bitcoin miners. The architecture is intended to support operating targets based on hashrate, electrical power, efficiency, temperature and noise rather than maximum performance alone.

DCENT_Toolbox is being developed alongside the firmware as a local-first, multi-vendor operator toolkit for miner discovery, diagnostics, firmware inspection, installation planning, recovery and fleet management. The project separates the firmware running on a miner from the tools used to inspect and manage the hardware.

The scale of the project has also created a funding challenge. D-Central estimates that more than $100,000 in engineering time, hardware, infrastructure and AI-assisted development resources have been committed during the current project cycle. The company estimates aggregate large-language-model usage across research, implementation, testing and independent review workflows in the trillions of tokens.

The work has been self-funded, without grant funding underwriting DCENT_OS. D-Central says the company has operated at a loss while continuing to finance the open-source effort and is seeking voluntary community and commercial support to help sustain development.

Support does not purchase additional software rights or unlock firmware functionality. Covered open-source code remains available under its published licenses regardless of whether a user contributes.

"We are not asking the community to fund an idea before the work starts," D-Central said. "The work is already public, the engineering has been continuous, and the objective is to keep publishing measurable progress while preserving open access to the code."
